About me
Jón Ingi Hlynsson is a PhD candidate in Clinical Psychology at Stockholm University, where he began his doctoral studies in September 2024. His research focuses on developing scalable and cost-effective therapeutic solutions for obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) using augmented reality. This project, named ZeroOCD, aims to provide accessible treatment options through a smartphone-based app that incorporates principles of cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and allows patients to engage in therapy from home with remote support from therapists.
Hlynsson has an extensive academic background, having pursued dual master’s degrees: one in Applied Psychology with a specialization in Clinical Psychology from the University of Iceland, and another from Stockholm University. He completed his bachelor’s degree in Psychology at the University of Iceland, graduating with first-class honors. Additionally, he has experience as a research assistant and has published several articles related to mental health, including studies on the impact of the Russian invasion of Ukraine on Swedish clinical populations.
Hlynsson is also involved in various academic and administrative roles, including co-supervising master’s theses and participating in student advisory boards. His work reflects a commitment to advancing psychological research and treatment methodologies, particularly in the context of digital health solutions.
